The Food of Bernal Heights: Part 4

A Dangerous Place
Bernal Heights had a reputation as a dangerous place in the 1980's. This was a place where crackheads frequent and car radios are stolen. The area was cleaned up in the early 90's after Good Life Grocery and restaurants like the Liberty Cafe moved in.

Today, there are several spots that serve great food and provide a chill/cozy ambiance. A patio-lover's paradise. Gone are the dangers of the past.

  • What's Special About it:
  • You will surely love the sunny, multilevel patios (which smells like jasmine in the summer - how nice is that?) They have toys and games for entertainment, as well as a fireplace that provides comfort when the fog rolls in. You will like the sandwiches, hot dishes, coffee drinks, smoothies and ice cream here.

  • What Customers Say:
  • "This place was meant for studying!  Whole strips of outlets on the walls, my dream come true.  No more staking out tables and slowly migrating your way closer to an outlet (ahem, Panera).  The front room is bustling with energy and noise, so if you're there to chat I'd suggest sitting there. "
